Fresh from the studio ~ and their ten-year anniversary ~ Boston avant-pop/chamber prog quintet Jaggery returns to Oberon for a winter concert debuting new material and cross-pollinations. Called “seductiv” and “otherwordly” by WBUR’S The ARTery, Jaggery combines the tight precision of classical (piano, viola, harp), the improvisational experimentation of jazz (drumkit, contrabass) and the avant-operatics of frontwoman Singer Mali‘s dramatic vocal emissions (think: Bjork meets Diamanda Galas). Featuring an all-new collaboration with the innovative Boston-based Luminarium Dance (Sleeprunner).

Fellow Boston art-rock quartet Schooltree ~ the brainchild of classically-trained multi-instrumentalist, composer and vaudeville performer Lainey Schooltree ~ mixes operatic odyssey and tight songwriting with a progressive twist.  Described as “beautifully strange” (Billy Copeland Music) and “nothing short of epic” (Boston Survival Guide), the band will be performing all new material: Act I from their new rock opera Heterotopia, which they’ll be recording as a concept double album this spring with producer Peter Moore (Count Zero, Sarah Rabdau & the SEA).
