Between 1787 and 1868, the British Crown shipped men, women, and children in bondage to Australia. This was the largest forced exile of citizens in pre-modern history. Female Transport is an account of the life and death struggle of six women convicts forced together to overcome oppression and survive the tumultous journey from England to Australia in 1807.
