Through theatrical techniques, explore ideas of home, freedom, and connecting across backgrounds. Participants will learn theater practices and games and use their own experiences to create community dialogue. This workshop is designed to engage immigrant communities across Greater Boston in the themes found in the Declaration of Independence and 1776. This workshop is run by A.R.T. Learning Lead Vahdat Yeganeh and is inspired by the works and philosophy of Dr. Dariush Shayegan (1935-2018, Iran).

Declaration Reclamation is presented in collaboration with The Network of Arts Administrators of Color (ArtsBoston).

Support for Declaration Reclamation is provided by Mass Humanities, which receives support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and is an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. About Vahdat Yeganeh

Vahdat Yeganeh was one of the founding members of the theater department at the Center of Dialogue of Civilizations (DOC) in Iran (2000). In 2013 he launched the DOC at Boston Experimental Theatre by producing and directing the first theater collaboration among artists from Iran and the U.S. (Creature). Since then, he continued his studies by producing 8 more productions in collaboration with American and international artists, including M(O)there, which was the first theater collaboration among artists from Iraq, Iran, and the US. He is more than honored and very excited to continue his studies on Dialogue of Civilizations in theater at A.R.T. and in collaboration with the communities in and around the greater Boston area.
