BIOGRAPHY
Kelly Roberge
Kelly Roberge attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he studied saxophone with Paul Cohen and Donald Walden and received a bachelor’s of music. Roberge moved to Portland, Ore. to perform with the Ezra Weiss Sextet and study with saxophonist Rob Scheps. After one year in Portland, Roberge moved to Boston to attend the New England Conservatory where he studied with Steve Lacy, Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Brookmeyer, Ben Monder and George Garzone. After receiving his master’s degree from NEC, Roberge continues to live in Boston where he performs with many unique ensembles including The Quartet of Happiness (theater jazz), Eric Hofbauer’s Infrared Band (original avant garde jazz), Ronald Reagan (Boston’s premier 80s pop saxophone duo), All of Us (electronic solo quartet), the Rebecca Shrimpton Quintet (original vocal jazz), Black Planets (acid jazz), Slow Poken Turtle (reggae) and the Ayn Inserto Big Band (contemporary jazz orchestra). Roberge has performed throughout the United States, Canada and Japan. Some notables that Roberge has recorded or performed with include Vincent Herring, Antonio Hart, Michael Mossman, John Tchicai, Billy Hart, Mark Gross, Bob Brookmeyer, George Garzone, Curtis Lundy and the band Boston.
